Vintage Horror Easter Marathon

I didn't celebrate easter and unfortunately I didn't have the chance to travel anywhere, so I spent my days off at home watching some cool horror vintage movies.
To define them "horror" wouldn't be appropriate as they were not scary at all, but it was interesting to see how the concept of horror was different in the past and how it was filmatized.
The first film I watched was quite entertaining:

I eat your skin: zombie bloodbath
I must say that it's nothing like the cover but it had some cool scenes in it.  It was about some natives in the caribbeans practising voodoo. The zombies were black people and not flesh eating monsters
like they normally are portrayed in modern films... they looked more realistic. I really appreciated that. Good story, quite a cool flick!
The second movie was lovely! "White zombie" from 1932!

Two different covers of  "White Zombie"

It seems this was the film that inspired Rob Zombie the name of his band "White zombie". It pretty cool, too bad the audio was bad in certain parts. Definitely worth a watch. I loved the actress who was playing the zombiefied woman, she looked so lovely and was very charming! Bela Lugosi was also great! I only saw him performing Dracula and he has always been in my eyes one of the best actors for that role and I enjoyed seeing him in this movie. He had some crazy facial expressions, he was perfect to play the villain.
Unforgettable film this one.  Really funny how they put a half naked woman on the cover and wrote that she was: "performing his every desire"...well as far as the film goes the only thing she performed was playing the piano for him and was very much dressed!

The third movie was also quite entertaining: " The horrors of spider island". The title was just to cheesy, I just felt compelled to watch it! Less than half way into the film I thought that the more appropriate title for this film would have been : " The whores of spider island"! Very sexy and libertine ladies in this film, I can imagine it must have been pretty hot for that period.

Not too many horror scenes but lots of ladies in bikinis making out with a few lucky men stranded on a island. It was very funny to see the spider face of the men who got bitten by spiders, ha ha ha, I laughed so hard it was crazy! Cool film!
The last film I watched was: " I bury the living", promising title, very disappointing flick!

I bury the living

I guess the person who made the film poster didn't even watch the movie...the cover and title were so cool  but the film was really boring. No action, basically it was just about how a man could kill just by inserting a black pin on a map! That was about it really. Boring!
There are many more vintage horror films online, can't wait to go on watching! I will make more reviews soon I guess.

It's nice to have a cat!

It is really nice to have a pet in the house! It really keeps me a lot of company and gives a lot of affection! I recently bought this one year old persian cat, with pedegree, whom I renamed Battufolino.

Battufolino

At first he was very aggressive and scared but now that he got used to me I began to love him more and more because he is just a sweet little thing! He wants to cuddle all the time! He spent the first week at my friend's house, who has some other pets. It must have been really terrifying and disorienting for him. We decided to take some pictures with him, my friend picked it up and Battufolino went wild on him and scratched him right on his face! That scene was really scary! There was a pool of blood on the floor! After that I decided not to approach him and gave him time to feel safe in the house...it was a good move, cause the same evening he felt better and came up on the couch and sat beside me. It felt good!

I must say that when I picked it up he really was in horrible conditions...he had been eating really cheap food and his fur was really bad, he was just fur and bones. I felt really sorry for him. Now, I spoil him rotten. I have been buying top class cat food and even gave him salmon ( which he devoured like he never ate anything that good before!) and I must say that he seems really happy and his health got much better. He loves to be petted and combed. Yesterday I gave him a bath and I must say that he did really well. I know cats hate water, so I was expecting to have some wild reactions on his side, but he was so good...poor little thing! Now he totally looks like a fluffball :) Welcome to my home Battufolino!

Family tree search

I can't almost believe I didn't blog since november! 2011 has really been a bad year for me, we had some deaths in the family, lots of stress and problems and honestly it's been really tough for me.
I really do not understand what is happenning. Some major changes have been going on in my private life too, at times the totally unexpected happens and when it does, it hits with the force of a cyclone. Then it doesn't matter if one is prepared or not, changes do come and we need to accept them and just make the best out of any new situation. Sometimes it is really hard to let go of the past, but it has to be done, especially when there is something better, much better, at the horizon, inshAllah.
Despite all this distress I am doing ok.
I recently started to be interested again in the story of my uknown family from Procida...I want to find out if I have some distant cousins/relatives still living there. I want to know why my greatgrampa never kept in touch with his relatives when he moved to the North of Italy, from the beautiful island of Procida in the Gulf of Naples.
My father doesn't know anything about his grandparents either. Why was my granpa always so silent? What really happenned? Did my greatgrampa leave Procida only for work or has something pushed him away?
I just found a girl on FB who shares the same family name as me, I emailed her some details about my ancestors...I wonder if that would ring a bell for her? Who knows, maybe we could be cousins?
I will keep you updated with this one.

I really wanna travel to Procida in the summer and go see the place of origin of part of my family! It looks so beautiful!
I just watched "The Talented Mr. Ripley" again the other night, which was filmed there and actually is one of my favorite movies.
Oh I cannot stop thinking about Procida!
